I posted about 30 out of the 80 pictures from my sister Cait's visit to Colorado last week, on Facebook. The entire set of 80 are at Picasa Web Albums, and there's a slideshow below. If you click the slideshow display, Picasa will open up so you can browse the thumbnails.
We had a great time when Cait and Wendy came up to the mountains to visit. We went camping down by Elevenmile Canyon, and climbing for two days in the canyon. Then we came back to the house in Fairplay, and spent two days hiking. First, we took kind of a rest day at the house, and went on a short drive and hike to one of the old mining ghost towns nearby - Leavick. We had a nice evening fire in the yard in the new fire bowl, and Steve showed up later. He would be joining us for the big hike up Quandary Peak the next day.
It was a lot of firsts for Caity's trip this time. First multi-pitch climb, first time camping, and first hike up a fourteener. It was also Erica's first multi-pitch and her first fourteener too. The hike up Quandary was great - we had perfect weather, and a classic hike on the busiest fourteener hiking day of the year. It was, of course, Saturday on 4th of July weekend. There were a lot of people on the trail, but it wasn't too bad. only, the dogs had to be on leash the whole time.

Here's an album of snapshots taken on Employee Day 2010. This year they kept the medium size park and superpipe open to us, and with so few people riding the features, the park stayed really good all day long! What a treat! This was an example of Vail Resorts doing something very right for their employees.
On April 6-8, 2010, AASI Rocky Mountain conducted a Freestyle Accreditation clinic and exam. In an unprecedented move, clinic leader Gregg Davis used slow-motion video to help analyze the riders and let them see their movements during the Park and Pipe event. Please click the link below to view the results.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret - wild edible plants are organic, healthy, whole foods. And they are available almost anywhere you are. I've learned a lot from Erica Marciniec as she refers to all kinds of different plants and ways to prepare and eat them. Good on Ya!
I haven't had it yet, but I'm really looking forward to having this Coconut-Sorrel Soup that she wrote about here: http://etmarciniec.com/2009/09/thai-style-coconut-sorrel-fish-soup.html
It looks great! You can click the pictures to make them bigger and really get a good look at the soup.
Erica, if you're reading this, make me the soup! I'll help!
