Caity's Colorado Visit Summer 2010

I posted about 30 out of the 80 pictures from my sister Cait's visit to Colorado last week, on Facebook. The entire set of 80 are at Picasa Web Albums, and there's a slideshow below. If you click the slideshow display, Picasa will open up so you can browse the thumbnails.

We had a great time when Cait and Wendy came up to the mountains to visit. We went camping down by Elevenmile Canyon, and climbing for two days in the canyon. Then we came back to the house in Fairplay, and spent two days hiking. First, we took kinf of a rest day at the house, and went on a short drive and hike to one of the old mining ghost towns nearby - Leavick. We had a nice evening fire in the yard in the new fire bowl, and Steve showed up later. He would be joining us for the big hike up Quandary Peak the next day.

It was a lot of firsts for Caity's trip this time. First multi-pitch climb, first time camping, and first hike up a fourteener. It was also Erica's first multi-pitch and her first fourteener too. The hike up Quandary was great - we had perfect weather, and a classic hike on th busiest fourteener hiking day of the year. It was, of course, Saturday on 4th of July weekend. There were a lot of people on the trail, but it wasn't too bad. only, the dogs had to be on leash the whole time.

Erica's blog, where she writes about Wild Edible Plants

I'm going to let you in on a little secret - wild edible plants are organic, healthy, whole foods. And they are available almost anywhere you are. I've learned a lot from Erica Marciniec as she refers to all kinds of different plants and ways to prepare and eat them. Good on Ya!

I haven't had it yet, but I'm really looking forward to having this Coconut-Sorrel Soup that she wrote about here: http://etmarciniec.com/2009/09/thai-style-coconut-sorrel-fish-soup.html

It looks great! You can click the pictures to make them bigger and really get a good look at the soup.

Erica, if you're reading this, make me the soup! I'll help!

Here's the drainage problem and solution, as we have a road culvert that drains into our driveway from above.

The four of us met in Fort Collins for an excursion day for Mother's Day. We went hiking at Horsetooth Park, and then had a great dinner downtown.
